Hi Simon, you’ve been with Advantec for just over a month, so we’d like to know a little bit more about your experience as our new resident Web Developer and life as a team member!
Firstly, what enticed you to this role?
I’ve been in development and programming for a number of years now and I was looking for my next venture to broaden my experience. Advantec is a recognised name in regional e-commerce development and has a promising future ahead of it.
How did you get into web development?
It’s fading into the mists of time but I believe I just sat down one day and thought I’d try out programming – and here I am today. Not the most exciting of background stories!
What was your last job and what did it entail?
My last job was a similar development role, I worked on various projects both large and small.
How did you feel about starting at/working at digital agency Advantec?
Eager – programming is a compulsive habit! As I mentioned, Advantec is a renowned name in the digital marketing/e-commerce industry and I felt intrigued to get an insight into the work they do.
Considering the above, what do you think of Advantec and our team now?
I like the high degree of trust between team members. There’s a greater preparedness to allow people to manage their own responsibilities and make work-related decisions here than seems typical in other workplaces.
What’s been the most exciting project you’ve worked on so far?
Some recent SQL optimisation gave my brain a decent workout, so that was enjoyable.
